Experience of a Lifetime! Best Mongolian Tour!

Date of experience: December 2019

I’d like to give a big thank you to Nur for making my 1st time in Mongolia an unforgettable experience! I booked my tour less than a week before my arrival. Nur responded promptly to my queries, took note of my tour preferences (what places I wanted to see and experience), suggested additional activities, and had everything planned out seamlessly in such short notice. I flew to Olgii not knowing what to expect except to be stuck in the cold wilderness for 6 days. But Nur welcomed me warmly at the airport and we drove to a mountaintop beside Olgii so I could enjoy a bird’s eye-view of the city!! Breathtaking! A sign of good days to come! Nur is a local of Bayan-Olgii and a very experienced photographer (check out his Instagram). This gave me a huge advantage as a tourist to experience the culture, food, and traditions from a local’s perspective (and Nur gave me a crash course on photography and social media marketing!). I learned how to make buuz, and after an hour of practice, I finally made the perfect buuz! I spent a few days with the families of Sailau and Jinsbek and it was a very enriching and inspiring experience. Nur taught me a few Kazakh words that came in handy when we visited eagle hunter homes. He answered every question I had, big or small. From how do eagles hunt foxes, to what material the nomad winter houses are made of, to why does Jinsbek carry a rifle (ans: protection against wolves). I learned how to ride a horse and a camel. I learned how the locals make tsuivan, besbarmak, and the ubiquitous milk tea.

I held my breath when Jinsbek’s eagle flew straight to my arm! The power of these ferocious birds is unmistakeable, I am slowly understanding the bond between hunter and eagle. Sailau’s family taught me several traditional songs on the dombra (2-stringed instrument like a guitar) and Nur sang for us—he’s got an AMAZING voice!! I taught them how to TikTok (lol!). They showed me their life in the steppe and I showed them my life in the city. Nur and the families were so warm and proudly shared their culture with me, I felt like I was among family and friends. The tour service was luxurious to say the least; we travelled by 4×4, we had really warm sleeping bags and blankets, and we had homemade meals with the families. It was the perfect intro to living a nomad life.

Best part is when we visited Jinsbek’s house which has a 360-degree view of the vast Sagsai steppe, with purple mountains towering in the distance and rivers quietly snaking through the earth. It was the kind of landscape that takes your breath away every time. Nur took me on a walking tour through grazing yaks and goats, and I had my mouth hanging open as we walked through the vast steppe.

I would highly recommend Nur Altai Tours to everyone planning to visit Mongolia. These guys know how to exceed expectations and give you a tour of a lifetime!!!

Hello everybody, first of all: Thank you very much Nur for such an amazing, easy going, highly customer/service-oriented and unforgettable tour with you at the Altai. I learned and saw a lot – it was very enriching! For all traveller who look for the perfect, high-standard tour in Altai region I can highly recommend “Nur Altai Tour”! The guys do know all the exciting spots you want to see in this region and they are more than just guides – it is nearly like travelling with a local friend! Moreover, the service or customer-orientation is outstanding in comparison to other tours we did in Mongolia and in other countries. They are really caring about their service to their guests and they are always looking for making you happy. They are really striving for offering you the best experience and to make your travel as comfortable and unforgettable as possible. Examples of our tour: Nur gave us the space we needed as a couple but was always close by for any questions or assistance we might need. We could ask him anything about the culture, peoples life in the countryside etc. and he was always very eager to answer the questions or asked someone who could answer. Also he always fulfilled our wishes without hesitation, e.g. one day we asked Nur if it was possible to visit a waterfall by horse instead of the jeep – and he directly managed it as we wished. Those examples are only small glimpses out of this wonderful tour and the easy conversations with him. Another plus: Nur’s very good English skills which helped us a lot even after the tour when we got another driver who couldn’t speak English. We phoned Nur and he translated to the driver what we wanted – that was also a great help and far from being self-evident. Again: If Altai region, take Nur Altai tours! You won’t regret it – I guarantee!

I have been living in Mongolia for almost a year now and this tour was definitely one of the best I took so far!
Our five day tour though the Altai region was perfectly balanced between sightseeing, activities and time to relax and enjoy the amazing landscape. We hiked the Malchiin Peak, stayed at a Kazakh eagle hunter family and did a horseride to some incredible waterfalls. But most importantly, Nur was a really great guide for this trip! He is really motivated to make your tour the best experience possible! In addition to being the perfect tour guide, he is also a very talented photographer, so you might even get a nice beginners course in landscape photography included in your trip.
I can recommend Nur Altai Tour without hesitation!

This is the first time we went to Mongolia. Nur organized a 5-days Uriankhai People & Eagle Hunter Family tour for my husband and me this July. We met golden eagle hunter family, Kazakh nomadic family and Uriankhais nomadic family, stayed in their gers, full of wonderful interactions with them and Nur provided very good translation to let us understood their culture. We experienced eagle training, horse riding, goats and mares milking, cutting the sheep wool, making dairy products in their way, trying their vodka and the Uriankhais father taught us how to shoot archery and showed us how to adapt the young yak bull for cart. We also had a very enjoyable time with the nomadic kids.

Nur treated us as a King and Queen in these 5 days, good food cooked by wonderful Chef Adi, good car with safety drive, Nur really knows how to camp, he set up an outdoor shower for us (so impressive…), concerning in every single detail, pay attention to our comfort. Nur’s arrangement is always “More than enough”. He is also a good photographer, took many nice pictures for us.

Highly recommend Nur Altai Tour if you visit Western Mongolia. We enjoyed this trip very much!!!

今次這趟旅行真的很開心,因為選對了一間好好的旅行社,Nur 簡直當我們是皇帝那樣款待,超級細心,時常擔心我們會不會辛苦,廚師煮的食物超好食,可以深入與當地游牧民族的相交

Unique and intimate travel across Altai Tavan Bogd mountain of Bayan-Ulgii province, the western Mongolia, is a must-to-do experience for wild environment lovers. An excursion experience for those who prefer to have a genuine travel experience with local guides. Observing untouched culture and pure nature were all in place. Last, but not least to highlight, pictures of stunning nature, friendly guides, warm atmosphere and tasty food were essential to bring back from this tour.

Day tour around city and to Chinggis Khaan statue

Got to hang out with Erka today for a great day in Mongolia. Was picked up at hotel in the morning for a drive straight to Chinggis Khaan statue. It was AMAZING! I was in awe how tall it actually was. The museum inside is mediocre with a restaurant and some souvenir shops. You definitely go there for the statue itself. We then headed back to Ulaanbaatar and had lunch at Erka’s request: a delicious Turkish restaurant. I feasted like I was a general in the Golden Horde. Soooo much food for such a cheap price. Erka and I ate for less than $20usd and I literally had to be rolled out I was so full. We then went to some museums and the Khaan Winter Palace for site seeing and finished at the Parliament Square. Erka was real friendly, spoke good English, he and I were the same age and so we had a lot of things in common. Great trip! Great team! Great price! Highly recommend!!!!

Wonderful experience trekking to National Park with Nur Altai Tour.
A group of 7 of us climbed to Malchin peak of National Park organized by Nur Altai Tour. We were going to climb Altai mountains in 3 days, but Nur suggested us more 4 days to trekking through wonderful area called bear valley. Our tour company was able to change our itinerary on everything and we were able to successfully complete the trip.
We enjoyed very much with this trip and thanks for perfect organization!

Summer riding in Western Mongolia

This is my first time signing up for trips with Nur Altai tour , and I highly recommend this company. I did a Ulaanbaatar city tour, Chingghis Khan Statue tour, ger stay and a horse riding expedition with them for the western most part of Mongolia during 10 days trip.

First off all everything was easily arranged via email. Oitolgan (owner of Nur Altai Tour ) replies promptly and gives really good advice and answered all my queries.

The Western Mongolia was the highlight of my travel. It included an unforgettable visit to the stunning Altai Bogd National Park, with several nights camping and a long kilometer return horse trek to the base camp of Mount Tavan Bogd close to the borders of Russia, Kazakhstan and China.
It was a wonderful and most extraordinary adventure.

The 10 day expedition was definitely the highlight of my trip. Pretty much everything was provided for, and Nur Altai tour really knows how to camp and ride in style. They pay attention to details and logistics and provide all equipment in pristine condition, very comfortable saddles, a packing list and even take note of your food preferences.

Overall, the whole trip takes you through spectacular scenery and gives you an unforgettable adventure of a lifetime. Hands down, it is one of the best trips of my life and I would do it all over again. Fingers crossed, I will be able to join another trip in the future.
