Your adventure takes you to North Mongolia, where you’ll explore the unfrozen beauty of the Jargalant River and marvel at its surroundings. The highlight of the tour is the profound immersion into the captivating world of reindeer herders and nomadic families. Among the vast wilderness, you’ll discover a lifestyle deeply rooted in ancient traditions and a close connection with nature. Wandering through the wilds of the Taiga alongside the mystical Tsaatan people offers a glimpse into their primal way of life, spending nights in teepees and awakening to the serene scenery of Northern Mongolia.
You’ll catch a night bus and arrive in the morning. Upon arrival, the team consisting of a tour guide, driver, and cook will greet you, and then you’ll embark on a journey northward to explore the Reindeer herders in the Taiga. Along the way, you’ll traverse stunning mountainous terrain and serene valleys, passing through the local town of Ulaan Uul. As you drive through a pass near the town, you’ll encounter the picturesque 13 shamanic “Ovoo,” symbolizing the entrance to the land of shamans. Furthermore, will visit local nomadic family in Darkhad village and get involved in their cultures. Furtherly, we’ll drive to the Renchinlkhumbe village and stay overnight in a small local hotel.(B/L/D)
We’ll drive about 35 km from the village to reach the Jargalant River. The landscape surrounding the river is incredibly beautiful, and despite Mongolia’s freezing temperatures, the Jargalant River remains unfrozen. While some local Mongolians choose to take ice baths in the river, we don’t recommend it unless you’re experienced. Exploring the area around the Jargalant River and enjoying lunch there is a wonderful experience on Mongolian winter tours. Afterward, we’ll return to the hotel for the night.(B/L/D)
We’ll drive further into the Taiga mountains until we reach the heart of the region, where the reindeer herders reside. Here, we’ll immerse ourselves in their daily lifestyle and culture. While the herders will have a teepee available, we will be staying overnight in a winter wooden hut with a stove fire. (B/L/D)
It will be a day dedicated to immersing ourselves in their cultures, with the opportunity to ride reindeer and explore the forests of the Taiga. You’ll explore the vicinity and enjoy the beautiful landscape of Taiga. Overnight, we’ll stay in warm sleeping bags provided at the wooden hut with a stove fire. (B/L/D)
So, we’ll head out from Khogorog early in the morning and drive about 350 km off-road, which should take us 7-8 hours to reach the lakeshore. Khuvsgul Lake, also known as Blue Pearl Lake, is surrounded by forested mountains and stands as one of Mongolia’s largest lakes. We’ll arrive at the tourist camp in the evening, where there are bathroom facilities. Chill out at the tourist camp.(B/L/D)
Enjoy the beautiful landscape of Khuvsgul lake and we’ll explore the area, play Mongolian traditional games on the ice. Afterwards, we’ll reach Murun town where we’ll catch flight back to Ulaanbaatar.(B/L)
